Why a cookery book from a thriller writer?
Food has always been part of the DCI Tom Douglas stories, and ever since the first book was published, readers have been asking me about the recipes. Where did they come from? Could they have them? I first thought about putting together a companion cookbook about ten years ago, but other books kept getting in the way. I'm glad I've finally got around to it, and it’s been a labour of love.
From the very beginning, I wanted Tom Douglas to be a man I would genuinely like. Someone who cares deeply about family, who sometimes wrestles with the gap between what the law demands and what feels morally right. Above all, I wanted to avoid the cliché of the jaded detective, nursing a pint alone in a dingy pub at the end of a long shift.
So Tom became a food lover - loves to eat, loves to cook - especially for the people he cares about. And each dish mentioned in the books is one that I have cooked and enjoyed.
So I thought it was time to share some of those recipes with you.
The first collection of recipes can be downloaded as PDFs or either A4 or US letter - perfect for either printing as needed, or for pulling up on your tablet when you're ready to cook.
I made the decision not to print these as a book - cookery books are expensive, and I wanted to be sure that each collection costs less than a cup of coffee!
With that in mind, the cost is £3.99 (or equivalent in other currencies), but there's 25% off for my readers, using code HUNGRYREADER25.
